Our Accessibility Commitment
Disability Justice US is committed to ensuring that our platform is accessible to all users, including those with visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA across all pages and features.
WCAG 2.1 Conformance
We have implemented the following accessibility features throughout the platform:
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements — buttons, links, form fields, dropdowns, and modals — are fully operable via keyboard. Tab order follows a logical reading sequence throughout every page.
Screen Reader Support
All images have descriptive alt text. Form inputs have associated labels. ARIA roles, landmarks, and live regions are used throughout to communicate dynamic content changes to assistive technologies.
Skip Navigation
A 'Skip to main content' link is present at the top of every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repetitive navigation.
Color Contrast
All text meets the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. We do not rely on color alone to convey information.
Resizable Text
Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality. The viewport meta tag does not restrict user zoom.
Focus Indicators
All interactive elements have visible focus indicators that meet WCAG 2.1 AA focus visibility requirements.
Form Accessibility
All forms include descriptive labels, error messages, and instructions. Required fields are clearly indicated. Error messages are associated with their respective fields.
Semantic HTML
Pages use proper heading hierarchy (h1–h3), landmark regions (header, main, nav, footer), and semantic HTML5 elements throughout.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, some areas of the platform are still being improved. PDF documents generated by the Appeal Kit Generator are functional but may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We are working to add tagged PDF output in a future release. If you encounter any accessibility barriers, please report them using the contact information below.
Assistive Technology Compatibility
This platform has been designed and tested for compatibility with the following assistive technologies: NVDA with Chrome, JAWS with Chrome and Edge, VoiceOver with Safari on macOS and iOS, and TalkBack on Android. We recommend using the latest version of your browser and assistive technology for the best experience.
Report an Accessibility Issue
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of Disability Justice US. If you encounter a barrier that prevents you from accessing any part of the platform, please contact us through the platform's support channel. We commit to acknowledging accessibility reports within 2 business days and resolving confirmed issues within 30 days.
When reporting an issue, please include: the page URL where the issue occurred, a description of the barrier, the assistive technology and browser you are using, and your contact information if you would like a follow-up.
